Job Description Position:
Great Start Readiness Preschool PreK Teacher Qualifications:
1. Valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement, Birth-K, or PK-3 endorsement; OR Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or child development 2. Alignment with Thornapple Kellogg School's mission and values. 3. CPR and First Aid certified 4. Ability to take a leadership role in the classroom and possess flexibility and patience. 5. Ability to plan and execute early childhood curriculum, experience with HighScope and Conscious Discipline preferred. 6. Ability to foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment and build strong relationships with students and families. 7. Ability to provide differentiated instruction in developmentally appropriate ways aligned with NAEYC and Michigan Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Pre-Kindergarten (ECSQ-PK). 8. Knowledge of Michigan Child Care Licensing Regulations and GSRP implementation manual. 9. Good attendance, punctuality, and excellent communication/organization skills. 10. Respect for confidentiality requirements of information. 11. Ability to work in a diverse school environment. 12. Ability to work with other professionals in a collaborative manner.
Job Summary:
1. Responsible for providing a safe, nurturing learning environment for children. 2. Develop and implement plans for students and all classroom activities, using developmentally appropriate practices that support social, intellectual, physical, and emotional skills. 3. Work cooperatively with all other ECC staff to ensure that the GSRP PreK instructional model is carried out uniformly throughout classrooms. 4. Ensure the GSRP PreK classroom meets or exceeds all licensing and program quality assessment criteria. 5. Maintain ongoing organized records of student data. 6. Demonstrate leadership skills by partnering with the assigned GSRP PreK Associate Teacher, creating an instructional team to achieve classroom curriculum development and delivery while supporting every child's academic and social-emotional growth. 7. Participate in collaborative planning with peers, district PLC meetings, and EC MTSS team meetings as needed. 8. Set instructional goals for students with families by providing two home visits to each child enrolled in the classroom and host two parent conferences per school year. 9. Provide opportunities for families of PreK students to engage with their child's education. 10. Participate in all required district professional development to meet childcare licensing regulations and GSRP implementation requirements. 11. Accept and accomplish any other duties the Director of Early Childhood assigns.
Terms of Employment:
