Job Duties TITLE:

Preschool Lead Teacher

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Early childhood education, child development, elementary education, special education, or a closely related field and 6 months of experience working with children in an early childhood or educational setting.

JOB DUTIES

Develop weekly plans and implement age appropriate curriculum (lesson plan) to nurture and stimulate all domains of children's development in your care. Provide a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children's learning and growth. On an on-going basis, plan, evaluate and improve the physical environment in the classroom to create opportunities to meet the changing needs of the developing children. Provide responsive care to all children by adapting daily care-giving routines and plans to the interests and needs of the individual children and the group. Prepare developmental progress reports as needed, but observe consistently. Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for all children's backgrounds by incorporating the cultural, linguistic and familial values and beliefs into the childcare program and lesson plans. Maintain ongoing and open communication with parents and other caregivers. Plan parent conferences at least twice a year to discuss your children's' developmental progressions, needs and interests. Liaison with children's' families to ensure smooth transition from home to child care setting and transitions between classrooms when needed. Maintain accurate, complete and timely client and agency records; Complete daily attendance, meal, nap, potty and activity records. Maintain up to date emergency forms, curriculum plans, individual child development profile and other records as needed. Complete daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of the children. Completes DRDP and

ITERS/ ECERS

with Assistant Teachers and Teachers Aides, and prepare developmental progress reports as needed. Assure a healthy, safe, clean and developmentally appropriate environment for children. Assist with functioning and monitoring of nutrition and food service. Assist with the supervision of staff and volunteers. Conduct supervision and observation consistently with Assistant Teachers and Teachers Aides. Ensure that the Assistant Teachers and Teachers Aides are kept updated in all matters concerning the classroom and program, i.e. Lead Teacher Meetings, lesson plans, policies & procedures, trainings received and etc. Complete yearly performance evaluations. Provide functional training and guidance to staff, interns, substitutes and volunteers assigned to the classroom. Report all staffing and classroom concerns to Director and/or Assistant Director in a timely manner. Report family changes in schedules and excessive absences to administration in a timely manner. Participate in on-going in-service and educational development opportunities provided by the center. Participate in ongoing development and evaluation of center's goals and objectives.

SALARY:

$39,900 per year.
