$41,951 / $46,154 Position Summary STLCC Child and Family Development Center are hiring for Childcare Teacher I & II's. Teacher I

  • requires Bachelors degree Performs duties necessary to develop and implement learning opportunities for children ages 6 weeks to Pre-K.
Train and supervise college students while providing on-site instruction; assist college students to achieve educational objectives referred by the academic departments (specifically Child and Family Development). Provide support and constant communication with families and college students promoting successful outcomes. Primary Duties Performed Create a learning environment both in and outside the classroom promoting exploration and experimentation. Develop an age-appropriate early childhood Constructivist Curriculum and environment with engaging interactions and programing based on licensing regulations and accreditation standards. Coordinate and direct the work of all part-time employees, student workers, practicum students; coordinate all visits from guests, therapists, and volunteers. Establish relationships with college students creating interest in becoming part of the CDLC community. Mentor and model developmentally appropriate practices in the classroom; coach and provide feedback to students during practicums and individual meetings; review and critique student assignments and experiences. Process and complete paperwork for faculty and communicate the progress of students to faculty. Observe, record development, and establish goals for individual children to create the curriculum and learning environment within the classroom. Culturally sensitive to each client/family and individual needs and customs as appropriate. Maintain all paperwork for children's records and classroom curriculum. Maintain all accreditation portfolios. Build and maintain rapport and trust with families; initiate home visit before enrollment, conduct developmental conferences on the child's birthday and half birthday months (additional conferences if needed by parent or teacher), participate in transition and exit conferences; facilitate four educational parent meetings per year; create daily communication, and bimonthly newsletters. Stay up to date and maintain knowledge in the field of child development and early childhood education. Complete 18 hours annually of qualified continuing education. Maintain current CPR and infant child first aid. Maintain all annual training required for MO licensing, MO DSS, IL DSS, and STLCC. Participates in CDLC Parent Advisory Council, STLCC, and community events. Assists with other matters as assigned. Qualifications/Experience
CHILDCARE TEACHER I
Associate's Degree in Early Care and Education, Child and Family Development or the equivalent
  • OR•30 college credits in Early Care and Education, Child and Family Development, or similar and an additional two (2) years of relevant early childhood classroom experience, including practicum.
Minimum of one (1) year of relevant early childhood classroom experience, including practicum.
CHILDCARE TEACHER II
Bachelor's Degree in Early Care and Education, Child and Family Development or similar degree Minimum of one (1) year of relevant early childhood classroom experience, including practicum.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to move quickly up and down off the floor. Ability to lift items overhead, bend, and stoop. Working Conditions Early childhood development classroom, outdoor recreation areas, and office environment Employees in the CDLC must clear Family Care Safety Registry and finger printing through licensing, Hepatitis A Immunization series, and Physical and TB Risk Assessment forms. Employees must complete annual approved training hours each year (currently 12 for licensing and 18 for accreditation) and must complete any web-based training for childcare as assigned by the states of IL and/or MO.
