Aug 18, 2026 Job Description The Part-Time Childcare Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children ages 6 weeks through preschool. The teacher promotes children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through age-appropriate activities and positive interactions while ensuring the health and safety of all children in their care.
Position Details:
Part-time position (20 hours per week) Reports to the Daycare Director
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide daily care and supervision for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate learning activities that support child development. Create a positive, caring, and inclusive classroom environment. Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children at all times. Follow all daycare policies, procedures, and licensing requirements. Maintain accurate attendance, feeding, diapering, and developmental records as required. Observe and document children's growth, development, and milestones. Communicate professionally with parents regarding their child's progress, needs, and daily activities. Assist children with feeding, toileting, handwashing, and other personal care needs. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom environment. Monitor children's behavior and use positive guidance techniques to encourage appropriate social skills. Work collaboratively with the Daycare Director and other staff members to ensure high-quality care and programming. Participate in required training and staff meetings as assigned. Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all health and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; early childhood education coursework preferred. Experience working with young children is preferred. Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate practices. Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers. Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills. Ability to meet physical demands associated with caring for young children, including lifting, bending, and active supervision. The Part-Time Childcare Teacher plays an important role in creating a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive while supporting the childcare needs of school employees and their families. This position is a 20-hour-per-week role that works closely with the Daycare Director and other childcare staff to provide high-quality care and supervision. This position could be for AM or PM duties only.
