Job Description

Open Arms Christian Child Development Center is a 5-star childcare facility in Clayton looking to hire teachers and assistant teachers to join our team. We offer full time year-round pre-k programs for children from 6 weeks old through 12 years old as well as a half-day pre-k program for 3-5 year olds. We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Teachers and Assistant Teachers to plan and implement an ongoing program of activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child, in accordance with 5-star guidelines. As a teacher at Open Arms, you will help young minds explore, learn, discover, and grow.
Primary Responsibilities:
The overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of children. Observes all rules and regulations of Open Arms, state, and local agencies pertaining to the health & wellness, safety, and care of children. Assesses each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis. Maintains an attractive, safe, well-kept classroom that encourages children to learn, grow, and to have fun. Provides verbal recognition and acceptance to children while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior. Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds. Assist as needed in other capacities that the director determines is necessary.
Desired skills and experience:
Must meet basic requirements of local childcare regulatory agency. Previous teaching or assistant teaching position in a licensed early childhood program preferred. Knowledge of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children 2 or 4 year degree in early childhood or related field preferred. Additional courses in Early Childhood Education, North Carolina Early Childhood Teaching Credentials, and at least two years direct teaching experience preferred. Must pass criminal background check (or already have your qualification letter). Must obtain CPR/First Aid certification and other safety trainings.
