This position provides an exciting opportunity to support a high-quality preschool classroom while ensuring continuity of instruction and care for young learners. The ideal candidate will be flexible, collaborative, and committed to providing a positive educational experience for children during an extended teacher absence. About Newman Early Learning Center Newman Early Learning Center offers high-quality early childhood education for infants through kindergarten, including before and after care. We focus on nurturing each child's growth in a safe, engaging, and supportive environment, fostering development through age-appropriate learning and play.
Description Longterm Substitute Position Details Timeline :
October 12, 2026 - March 26, 2027
Schedule :
Monday-Friday, 8:45am-3:45pm Key Responsibilities Assume responsibility for the classroom during the lead teacher's extended absence Implement lesson plans and curriculum in accordance with program expectations and district guidelines Work collaboratively with a full-time assistant teacher to maintain a positive and productive classroom environment Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom that supports the developmental needs of all children Utilize the HighScope curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices to engage preschool learners Maintain classroom routines, expectations, and behavior management systems to ensure consistency for students Monitor student progress and communicate relevant information to administration and support staff Utilize positive guidance techniques to support social-emotional development Maintain accurate documentation and records as required by the center and district Communicate professionally with families, colleagues, and related service providers Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other required activities Follow all center policies, licensing regulations, and district requirements Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred New Jersey PreK-3 Certification Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred Strong classroom management and organizational skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to follow established curriculum plans and classroom procedures Ability to adapt quickly and maintain continuity of instruction Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and collaboration Proficiency with technology for documentation, communication, and instructional support What We Offer Competitive compensation Daily planning time Paid holidays (where applicable) Supportive, team-oriented environment Staff appreciation days Professional development opportunities A program rooted in hands-on, movement-based, play-centered learning The opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of preschool children About Newman Early Learning Center Newman Early Learning Center is committed to providing high-quality early childhood education through meaningful relationships, active learning, and developmentally appropriate practices.
