You will be the primary caregiver for our youngest learners (ages 4 weeks to 18 months), providing the "home away from home" environment they need to thrive. Our Key Characteristics of a Great LTCA Infant Teacher 1. High Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
Intuition:
They can distinguish between a "hungry cry," a "tired cry," and a "lonely cry."
Patience:
They remain calm and soothing even when multiple babies are crying at once. 2.
Physical and Mental Stamina Constant Movement:
The job requires frequent lifting (up to 35 lbs), sitting on the floor, and bending over cribs.
Alertness:
They maintain "active supervision" at all times. 3.
Exceptional Observational Skills Detail-Oriented:
They notice the smallest changes in a baby's health, such as a slight rash, or a change in appetite.
Documentation:
They are diligent about logging every ounce of formula and every diaper change for state compliance and parent peace of mind. 4.
Gentle and Nurturing Demeanor Soft Communication:
They use "motherese" (high-pitched, melodic speech) and maintain eye contact to help infants develop language and trust.
Warmth:
They understand that holding, rocking, and cuddling are just as important as feeding. Classroom Responsibilities Implement age-appropriate curriculum plans that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in infants. Provide attentive care by monitoring infants' health, feeding schedules, diapering, and safety needs throughout the day. Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that encourages exploration and curiosity among young children. Manage classroom routines efficiently, including scheduling activities, transitions, and rest periods to ensure a smooth daily flow. Collaborate with families to share progress updates, address concerns, and support each child's individual needs.
Physical & Technical Requirements Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift 25-35 pounds repeatedly (lifting babies in/out of cribs and high chairs).
Mobility:
Ability to sit on the floor, crawl, bend, and stand for long periods.
Technology Literacy:
Familiarity with parent communication apps (like Procare) to log feedings and diaper changes.
Sanitation Knowledge:
Understanding of Universal Precautions for handling bodily fluids and disinfecting surfaces. Prior experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, or early childhood education setting is highly preferred.
Available shifts:
The Early Opener:
Usually 6:30 AM
  • 3:30 PM or 7:00 AM
  • 4:00 PM .
Focuses on morning drop-offs, breakfast, and the first circle time.
The Core Mid-Day:
Typically 8:30 AM
  • 5:30 PM or 9:00 AM
  • 6:00 PM .
This is the "anchor" shift that covers the most active parts of the day, including lunch and the main curriculum.
The Afternoon Closer:
Generally 9:00 AM
  • 6:00 PM or 10:00 AM
  • 6:00 PM. Focuses on the afternoon snack, late-day play, and parent pick-ups. The Part-Time "Lunch Floater": Usually 10:00 AM
  • 2:00 PM , 11:00 AM
  • 3:00 PM, 1:00 PM
  • 6:00 PM Provides critical coverage so full-time staff can take their mandatory breaks during nap time.
