LIFT Early Childhood Literacy Teacher Reports To:
Director of Early Childhood Education/LIFT Project Coordinator Job Purpose:
To design and facilitate evidence-based literacy instruction and workshops for families with children aged birth to three. The teacher will model early literacy strategies, providing parents/caregivers with the tools to cultivate home-based literacy habits that align with the New Jersey Birth to Three Early Learning Standards.Qualifications-Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Early Childhood, or related field. Strong knowledge of early childhood development, specifically the 0-3 age range Experience in delivering adult education or family-centered workshops Knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction (e.g., dialogic reading, phonological awareness for toddlers) Ability to analyze data to differentiate support for families Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Valid NJ driver's license and reliable transportation for community outreach Strong organizational skills Ability to document activitiesQualifications-Desired:
Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Reading/Literacy Experience working with multilingual learners and their familiesNJDOE P-3
(Preschool through Grade 3)Teaching Certification Duties/Responsibilities:
Plan and facilitate an early literacy workshop series for parents and children Develop instructional materials and "Literacy Kits" that provide age-appropriate books and activities for home use Model interactive reading techniques and language-rich interactions for parents/caregivers Conduct informal assessments of child progress and parent engagement during workshop sessions Collaborate with the EHT Public Library staff to integrate library resources into the LIFT curriculum Provide personalized literacy coaching to families based on the specific needs of their children Assist the Project Coordinator in evaluating the effectiveness of the literacy interventions and adjusting instruction as needed Maintain accurate records of family participation and feedback for grant reporting Communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders to promote the LIFT initiative All duties not declared herein but assigned by central administrationWorking Conditions:
12-Month Grant Period (March 1, 2026 - February 28, 2027) Office and Community-based environmentsStipend:
$4992 (Grant Funded). Split between up to 5 people at the EHTEA contracted hourly rate Physical Requirements (The physical requirements are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions.
