Job Description

If you love to make others smile, create "a-ha" moments and are often mistaken for a superhero… join our team #LoveWhatYouDo The Teacher is the leader within the classroom and is responsible for carrying out and ensuring that the classroom operates with the highest standards of educational excellence and offers a safe learning environment. Responsible for teaching students basic academic, social, and other formative skills at the Board of Education Preschool/Pre-K level, and cohesively embodying our own Lightbridge Academy Mission, Vision and Core Values. Head Teachers are also responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company and serving as a steward of Lightbridge Academy within the community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Deliver quality classroom experiences by ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment that encourages academic, social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.
  • Take the lead in overall classroom management, developing clear classroom goals, planning and implementing appropriate lesson plans in accordance with BOE core curriculum, and guiding Assistant Teachers to continually meet the highest standards of excellence in quality childcare and education. Works to achieve district educational goals and objectives and state core curriculum content standards.
  • Budgets class time effectively.
  • Encourage a partnering relationship with parents to work as a team for the benefit of the child and keep parents informed of the child's progress on a regular basis, including formal parent conferences throughout the year and other means.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to parents by going above and beyond to address questions and concerns, and assist parents promptly and effectively.
  • Observes children in a variety of settings and evaluates the cognitive, social, Emotional and physical skills of students and maintains records of progress toward stated objectives of instruction.
  • Sets specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carries through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives.
  • Develops and uses age-appropriate assessment tools and maintains records of pupil's development and educational progress in class record books and/or approved forms and summarizes these marks for reporting purposes.
  • Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems.
  • Assists in facilitating smooth transitions from preschool, kindergarten, and early primary grades programs and from the school day to after-school child care programs
  • Maintain interaction with children at all times during small and whole group interactive learning.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of appropriate behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment and follow all safety procedures at all times.
  • Participates in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees and other school system groups.
  • Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor, the Superintendent of Schools or his designee.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Teacher of Preschool through Grade 3 Endorsement or Eligibility
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective early childhood teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Such other qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Will Follow Manville Public School District calendar and compensation scale
  • Minimum of one (1) year of classroom teaching experience preferred.
  • Maintain continuing education requirements per company and state requirements.
