Job Description

About Little Tykes Since 1996, Little Tykes Preschool & Day Care Center has been a trusted part of the early childhood community, serving generations of local families through nurturing, high-quality programs. We partner closely with public school districts — including Lodi Public Schools — to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned preschool education in a warm, community-centered environment. About the Role We're looking for a passionate, certified P-3 Head Teacher to lead our Universal Pre-K classroom in partnership with Lodi Public Schools for the 2026-2027 school year. In this role, you'll deliver developmentally appropriate instruction aligned to the NJ Student Learning Standards and Creative Curriculum framework, collaborate with Lodi district representatives on curriculum and assessment, and work alongside our internal preschool team to maintain consistent, high-quality practices across all center programs.
Start Date:
Onboarding and classroom preparation begin prior to the 2026-2027 school year. The exact date will be confirmed upon hire, but we anticipate to be in August 2027. What You'll Do Plan, implement, and assess age-appropriate lessons aligned with NJSLS and the Creative Curriculum framework Use Teaching Strategies GOLD / SmartTeach for lesson planning, documentation, and child assessment Participate in routine curriculum check-ins with Lodi district representatives Maintain full compliance with district and state preschool program standards Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom that supports each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development Maintain accurate records and communicate consistently with families in line with Little Tykes and district expectations Participate in orientation, professional development, and CPR/First Aid training Collaborate with internal staff to ensure instructional alignment and best practices across all center programs
Qualifications Required:
Valid New Jersey P-3 Teaching Certification (Preschool through Grade 3) Meets one of the following education requirements: Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, science, dual-content, or an interdisciplinary academic major; OR Minimum 60 college credits in liberal arts/science, including at least 30 credits in core content areas (English, math, social studies/history, and science) Ability to begin prior to the school year for onboarding and classroom setup
Preferred:
Experience with Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD / SmartTeach Familiarity with NJSLS for Early Childhood Education and district-aligned programs Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills Before You Apply Please request your official transcript as soon as you submit your application — it must be on file before we can schedule an interview.
