Job Description

Job Overview:
Our NAEYC accredited program is seeking a Preschool teacher to join our team to plan, develop and implement educational activities that will teach, encourage and support the development of the goals and objectives for each individual child in their care.Responsibilities:
Develop learning activities to encourage and teach the goals and objectives adopted by the center. Implement open-ended activities to encourage self-expression, creativity, and independence. Incorporate a "circle time" and a story time into the classroom routine and to teach and review the goals and objectives appropriate for the class. Facilitate structured free play opportunities where the children's initiated play activities are used by the room's teaching staff to encourage conversation, verbalization, classification and problem solving. Keep records on individual children, including the procedures and documentation necessary for classroom tracking and attendance and anecdotal records. Support curriculum related class trips. Organizing the staffing of the classroom so that all room staff members have the opportunity to participate in leadership of all classroom activities (learning activities; open ended, child initiated activities, facilitative play, story time, circle time, etc.) Supervise and evaluate the work of the teacher assistant(s) assigned to you by using the Preschool Teacher Assistant job description and responsibility outline as found in the employee handbook. Organize and implement September personal visits with each child and his/her family. Prepare Fall and mid-year progress reports and prepare, schedule, and participate in mid-year parent-teacher conferences and "as needed" parent-teacher conferences during the year. Evaluate children using the center's goals, objectives, and other age appropriate behavioral and educational guidelines. Conferring with cooperating teacher(s), head teacher, and director when appropriate.Qualifications:
- CDA or higher in early childhood education or relevant degree.
- Previous experience in child care or working with children between the ages of 2.5
- 6 preferred.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques
- First aid certification is a plus
- Background in early childhood education or childcare is beneficial
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with children, parents, and colleagues
