YEAR SUMMARY
The Leaguers, Incorporated is seeking Full-time Early Head Start Teachers for its Newark Infant/Toddler Classrooms for the 2026-2027 School Year.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Our Head Start Infant/Toddler Teachers are responsible for providing high quality early childhood services in a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the early head start learning environment. Early Head Start Teachers promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children and encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program. Our Early Head Start Teachers develop individual goals for children, provide an ongoing assessment on progress and facilitate transition into our pre-school classrooms.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare lesson plans which include indoor and outdoor activities specifically designed on each infant's/toddler's own needs, interests and schedules; Provide multicultural materials and activities, family style meals and documents parent communications regarding the infant/toddlers' functions and activities; Maintain constant contact with families and works with all other agencies (Health, Nutrition, Parent Education and resources referred) to integrate services into the family setting; Create and manage an appealing, warm, and challenging environment; Organizes the classroom according to developmental levels and the individual needs of each infant/toddler; Ensures that diaper changing and toilet training functions are safe, sanitary, and developmentally appropriate; Relates to infants/toddlers in a calm, caring, nurturing, and soothing manner; Conducts developmental screenings and assessments.
QUALIFICATIONS
MUST hold a Certificate in Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education All licensing and certification training as required by the state of NJ Knowledgeable of principles and techniques of infant and toddler development Knowledgeable of teaching methods and training practices for infants/toddlers
STARTING SALARY
CDA
  • $44,100 AA Degree
  • $46,200 (CDA or 9 credits in ECE) BA Degree
  • $50,400 (CDA or 9 credits in ECE)
  • SIGN ON BONUS
  • $3,000 for Individuals who are fully certified

  • Candidates assignments will be based on program needs and employee preference.
