CREATING A FUN AND ENGAGING LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
to begin your journey as a Full-Time Head Teacher in a preK-4 classroom at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Educational Child Care Center. Each day as a Head Teacher you will share your passion for educating young children while having fun and experiencing the Y's unique, innovative and supportive environment. Work with a team of child care professionals to make a difference in the lives of children and families, creating high-quality, developmentally appropriate programs for children. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Implements curriculum within the established guidelines. Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans. Provides supervision, direction and leadership to Lead Teachers, Classroom Teachers and Teacher's Assistants. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child. Conducts parent-teacher conferences twice a year. Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents through daily interaction, newsletters, and parent meetings. Engages parents as volunteers and create positive connection Supervises, trains and evaluates the work of classroom's teaching personnel. Maintains program site and equipment including ensuring necessary supplies are in stock, organizing and decorating classrooms.
Pay:
$21.47+ per hour, depending on education and experience
Hours:
Monday-Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Elementary Education NJ Teacher Certification Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
