Job Description

First Friends Daycare is a small, early childhood center created by parents, for parents . We provide flexible, nurturing care for children ages 6 weeks through Pre‑Kindergarten, with a strong focus on safety, responsive caregiving, and developmentally appropriate practice.

Our "Learning by Doing" philosophy supports each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development while fostering meaningful partnerships with families.

Position SummaryWe are seeking a qualified and experienced Infant Lead Teacher to lead our Infant Classroom (6 weeks-18 months). The Infant Lead Teacher is responsible for maintaining a warm, secure, and developmentally appropriate environment while supervising classroom staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building strong relationships with families.

This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about infant development, routine‑based care, and classroom leadership.

Responsibilities Lead and manage the daily operations of the infant classroom Create a nurturing, responsive, and safe environment for infants Supervise, mentor, and support assistant teachers assigned to the infant room Implement developmentally appropriate activities that support infant milestones Follow and enforce safe sleep, feeding, diapering, and sanitizing procedures Maintain classroom ratios, schedules, and documentation Observe, document, and track infant development Communicate clearly and professionally with families through daily updates Ensure compliance with
NYS OCFS
childcare regulations and center policies Uphold First Friends Daycare standards of conduct, safety, and professionalism Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Infant or toddler teaching experience required CDA or Early Childhood Education coursework preferred Strong understanding of infant development and best practices Leadership and classroom management skills Reliable, punctual, and team‑oriented Ability to safely lift and care for infants and work at floor level Must meet
NYS OCFS
