The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. As a Lead Teacher, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experiences of our students, guiding them through their developmental milestones while promoting literacy and overall growth. Duties 1. Prepare and conduct daily educational activities within the assigned classroom conducting all assessments and keeping appropriate records as required by licensing agencies. 2. Prepare weekly lesson plans that introduce new and interesting concepts to the students. Ensure that these lessons comply with the Ohio Learning Standards and help to prepare the students for future academic success. 3. Conduct parent/teacher conferences each year for each child assigned to the classroom as required by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services. 4. Prepare daily summaries to provide to parents/guardians each day indicating highlights of the child's educational day and any specific notes the parent/guardian should be made aware. 5. Maintain good relationships with parents of each child assigned to the classroom including scheduling of the parent/teacher conferences and providing progress reports to the parents. 6. Oversee and guide assistant teacher or other individuals assigned to the classroom. 7. Attend to the physical needs of children, being alert to any symptoms of illness as well as careful prevention of accident causing situations. 8. Immediately report any accident involving either a child or staff member. The report is to be in writing as required by licensing agencies. 9. Plan and conduct regularly scheduled Field Trips both on campus and off campus, driving vehicles to transport children when scheduled 10. Complete training and support Child and Vulnerable Adult safety program and support all reporting requirements as required by the State of Ohio. 11. Complete The State of Ohio Driver Training as required to operate vehicles within the State of Ohio regulations for licensing, maintaining a valid State of Ohio Driver's license and completing annual BMV report requirements. Be prepared to drive as needed. 12. Establish, maintain and regularly provide professional development updates to your OCCRRA profile. 13. Maintain equipment, supplies, etc. in the classroom assigned, including daily general cleanliness of the classroom, closet, cupboards, bathrooms, etc. 14. Attend all staff meetings and staff trainings as required by The Salvation Army and licensing agencies. 15. Attend and help conduct all Family Nights hosted by The Learning Zone. 16. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Learning Zone After School & Summer Out of School Time Director or Area Coordinators. Skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Associate degree appropriate to school age children and ODJFS trainings as required.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a childcare environment
  • A valid State of Ohio Driver's license - for use in transporting children and/or conducting other assigned business as needed.
  • An appreciation and support for a Christian-based learning environment
PREFERRED
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or an equivalent field of study.
  • CPL Level 3 in
OCCRA. SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
