About Us The Maven School is a warm, nurturing in-home preschool located in the historic arts and cultural district of Larchmere. We serve young children in a peaceful, developmentally rich environment where learning is rooted in care, curiosity, creativity, and respect for the whole child. The Maven School was founded to meet a real need: a school where children are seen as capable, curious, emotionally rich, and worthy of deep care. Our approach is grounded in child development, equity, hands-on learning, and the belief that early childhood education should honor both the mind and heart of each child. Position Summary We are hiring a Part-Time Afternoon Preschool Assistant to support children ages 18 months through rising kindergartners during the second half of the school day. This role includes helping with lunch, nap/rest time, afternoon transitions, snack, indoor and outdoor play, pickup routines, and end-of-day reset. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, values calm and consistent routines, and wants steady weekday hours with weekends off. The right person will be dependable, emotionally grounded, gentle with children, and comfortable working as part of a small, close-knit team. This role may have the potential to grow over time as the school expands. Depending on your goals, availability, and the needs of the school, there may be opportunities for additional hours or increased responsibility after an initial 90-day period.
Schedule & Pay Hours:
Monday-Friday, 11:45 AM-5:45
PM Weekly Hours:
30 hours per week
Pay:
$12-$15/hour, based on experience

Growth:
Possible opportunity for increased hours or expanded responsibility after 90 days, if it is a strong mutual fit What You'll Do Support children during lunch, nap/rest time, snack, and afternoon transitions Supervise indoor and outdoor play in a calm, caring, and attentive way Assist children with bathroom routines, handwashing, hygiene, and self-help skills Help prepare children for pickup and support a smooth end-of-day routine Maintain a clean, organized, and peaceful classroom environment Assist with closing/reset tasks at the end of the school day Communicate clearly and kindly with the lead teacher, director, and families as needed Follow classroom routines, safety expectations, and behavior guidance practices Support children with warmth, patience, and respect Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate: Has at least 3 years of experience working with young children, preferably ages 18 months through rising kindergarteners Feels confident supporting routines, transitions, play, hygiene, rest time, and gentle behavior guidance Is calm, patient, dependable, and emotionally grounded Enjoys working in a small, nurturing early childhood environment Can follow routines while also adapting to the needs of the day Understands the importance of safety, supervision, and consistent presence Is comfortable helping with classroom cleanup and end-of-day reset Communicates respectfully with children, families, and team members Has or is willing to obtain CPR/First Aid certification Can pass BCI and FBI background checks before official hire Is open to growing with the school over time, while also valuing the current part-time role Why Join Us?
