Job Description

Milestones Learning Center in Delaware, OH is seeking a motivated and dependable Assistant Center Director to support the leadership of our licensed childcare center serving children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. We are looking for a strong, growth-minded leader who is passionate about early childhood education and committed to making a meaningful impact. The ideal candidate has strong organizational and leadership skills, a collaborative mindset, and experience working in a licensed childcare facility. Candidates must meet state licensing requirements for an Assistant Administrator or designated person in charge. Overview The Assistant Center Director supports daily center operations in partnership with the Center Director. This role helps ensure high-quality classroom environments, strong family relationships, staff support, and full compliance with all licensing, health, and safety standards while maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. Key Responsibilities Support the Center Director in daily operations and overall center management Provide leadership, guidance, and support to teaching staff to ensure high-quality classroom environments Assist with staff scheduling, enrollment management, and family communication Help maintain compliance with all state licensing, health, and safety regulations Support classroom operations and provide coverage or supervision as needed Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring staff Support licensing inspections, documentation, and compliance requirements Serve as acting Center Director when needed Qualifications Experience in early childhood education required; prior leadership experience preferred Experience in a licensed childcare setting required Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Demonstrated leadership ability and team-oriented mindset Must meet state licensing requirements for Assistant Administrator/Designee Must pass required background checks and fingerprinting CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within required timeframe) Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, and/or assist children, equipment, and supplies up to 35-50 pounds as needed in classroom support situations Ability to sit on the floor, bend, squat, kneel, and stand for extended periods when supporting classroom operations Ability to move safely and efficiently throughout the facility to observe, supervise, and support classrooms as needed Ability to occasionally participate in classroom activities, including supervision and direct support of children Ability to visually and auditorily monitor children and staff activities when providing classroom coverage Ability to respond promptly in emergency situations, including evacuations and assisting with safety procedures Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments and tolerate varying weather conditions Reasonable accommodations will be provided in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act .
