Education & Experience Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, a related field, or equivalent professional experience. OR Minimum of one year of experience working in a school setting. OR At least five years of experience working with children in either formal or informal settings. Certifications & Training Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within the first month of employment. Professional Skills Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effective classroom management and organizational skills. Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs. Key ResponsibilitiesProfessional Responsibilities Maintain compliance with all Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC) licensing requirements. Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support program development and continuous improvement. Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook, Parent Handbook, and Board Policy Manual. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, parent meetings, open houses, school programs, and special events. Assist with daily operational duties, including supervision of students during playground time, snack periods, and transitions. Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and respect in all interactions. Curriculum Planning & Instruction Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with program goals and child development best practices. Create meaningful learning experiences that support children's cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth. Use a variety of instructional methods, materials, and activities to engage all learners. Lead and supervise classroom projects, field trips, guest presentations, and enrichment activities. Encourage curiosity, exploration, problem-solving, and creativity through guided learning experiences. Student Support & Classroom Management Foster a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom environment. Establish and maintain appropriate behavior expectations and routines. Support children's communication and social-emotional development. Collaborate with families and outside professionals as needed to support student success. Assessment & Documentation Observe, assess, and document student growth and development. Adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and interests. Complete progress reports and maintain accurate student records. Family Engagement & Communication Build positive partnerships with families. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities. Maintain accurate records of attendance, student development, and family communications. Participate in parent-teacher conferences and respond promptly to family questions or concerns. Encourage family involvement in classroom and school activities. Classroom & Facility Care Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Share responsibility for housekeeping tasks and daily classroom maintenance. Help ensure all learning spaces remain safe, attractive, and free of clutter. Physical Requirements Ability to actively supervise and engage with young children throughout the day. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds as needed. Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and move frequently throughout the workday. Benefits Meaningful work impacting children and families.
