Job Description

See more on our website. Pay is determined using our set pay scale of $21-$23 per hour, for this role, which depends on your experience and skill. Overview We're looking for a positive, emotionally intelligent, dependable, and motivated toddler and preschool teacher! Someone who LOVES working with children ages two through five. You must be comfortable covering all necessary tasks during your shift: we cook, clean, change diapers and help with potty training, we go outside for an hour or more
EVERY DAY
(except smoky weather), we lead circle time and educational activities, we comfort crying children, mediate peer interactions in an attentive and supportive way, and aim to prevent behavioral issues before they arise. We follow a lot of rules for a few different agencies (DELC, OHA, USDA, DHS), and have a schedule, curriculum, and program policies that all need to be followed to a T. Someone highly efficient at multi-tasking, at engaging attentively with our students, fostering strong socio-emotional skills in children, in working as a team, and being trustworthy and dependable would be best suited for this position! We're looking for someone highly competent who brings a lot of good to their place of work! The right person would preferably begin by September 1, 2026 - this can be flexible for the right person, if needed. The owner has been working with children for 24 years and prioritizes a child-centered environment. Her values align well with the Pyramid Model and Conscious Discipline, and so we seek teammates who also align with them (or similar models that put the child's well-being first). If this sounds like you, please apply! We are a home-based program with 24 students, only 16 attending daily. We prefer to have three teachers working with our group of 16 students. We have cats and dogs on-site that are kept separate from the school, but this may not be ideal for folks with allergies. We are also a secular program and perfume-free environment. Observe our students to create goal plans for them with the Director. Substitute for other staff when needed. Maintain the program and facility in a way that ensures the quality, cleanliness, organization, efficiency, and integrity of the preschool and prevents any and all licensing violations. It is mandatory to understand the rules we have to follow and always ensure that we're acting in accordance with them. Support new hires, interns, substitutes, and volunteers. Keep up-to-date records for staff and children, including accurate daily timesheets. Communicate any needs, requests, information from staff and/or families to and from the Director. Communicate to the Director any repairs, changes, or improvements needed to the program, facility, materials, etc. Other Key Responsibilities & Duties A strong understanding of child development, being child-centered, and being trauma-informed. Be consistently nurturing and emotionally regulated with children and their families. Follow the policies and procedures, philosophies, values, schedule, and routines of our program. Maintain confidentiality for students and their families. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Be punctual and with limited attendance issues. Work effectively with the team. Lead by example, modeling teacher excellence. Model respect, kindness, inclusivity, and integrity for all students. Interact with all students in a safe, trustworthy, attentive, supportive, nurturing, child-centered way. Prioritize the needs and well-being of the children at all times. Foster strong socio-emotional and relational health support for all students. Ensure a healthy, clean, safe, trustworthy program environment for our students. Meet the standards and expectations outlined in the employee manual. Consistently demonstrate inclusivity for all children, families, and staff of all ethnicities, cultures, genders, sexual orientation, age, ability. Supervise children at all times. Perform head counts and know how many children are in care at all times. Keep us in ratio at all times. Honor our policy of being secular. We do not teach religion, and we honor each family choosing which beliefs are best for their family. Honor our policy of being fragrance-free at all times on the premises. Follow our daily opening and closing policies and procedures, including completing daily tasks, cleaning, organizing, etc. Check with the Director before making any changes to the program. Additional Skills & Experience Required Minimum age 25. Minimum of 3 years of professional child care experience. ORO step 4 or higher. Strong oral and written skills. Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal, and executive functioning skills. Teacher qualified (current on the Central Background Registry, with all required trainings completed and up-to-date in ORO). MUST be available between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to substitute for staff when needed.
