Job Description

Who we are: Founded in 1961, Penn-Mont Academy is a premier Montessori School. The school has over 250 students, ages 6 weeks- 6th grade. Penn-Mont's mission is to provide a Montessori learning environment that will: educate the whole child, prepare independent life-long learners, and inspire global citizenship. About the role:
Infant Assistant (6 weeks-18 mos) Create a positive learning environment in the classroom where children can develop a lifelong love for learning The desire to nurture and provide personal attention to infants ages 6 weeks - 18 months old and their families Write daily, weekly and monthly communications for parents
Qualifications:
High School Diploma Current CDA Experience working with infants preferred Demonstrated ability to work with children Must be reliable, timely, well organized, and work well with others. Montessori experience or early childhood education is preferable (but not required) to maintain an optimal classroom environment for children's safety and development. Willingness to work with the lead teacher to learn about the philosophy of Montessori and further understand the goals of the class and the school. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills and a dedication to the well being of the students.
Infant/Toddler Program Responsibilities:
Ensure that childcare routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with the good child development principles. This includes routines related to diapering, hand washing, eating, napping and transitioning between activities. Attention to the daily schedule for each child is of utmost importance Use equipment and supplies safely and conscientiously, keeping the physical environment clean and orderly. Assist with documentation of daily needs, observations, and developmental milestones. Assist in maintaining routines Provide a safe and secure environment. Be familiar with emergency procedures.
