Job Description

We are a small nature-based childcare center, and our philosophy is that kids learn and develop best when given natural ways to learn centered around the things they're actively curious about in the moment as they play. We do not have our kiddos sit and do worksheets in the preschool room, but rather, we teach crucial developmental lessons organically. We get outdoors every chance we get, and love checking out the nature around us. Duties Work Monday-Friday 8-5 (with a 1 hour break) Develop and implement dynamic curriculum plans that incorporate early intervention strategies when necessary to support holistic childhood development. Create a stimulating yet nurturing classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and social interaction among children. Manage classroom activities with effective behavior management techniques to promote positive conduct and emotional regulation. Conduct assessments to monitor each child's progress, when deemed necessary/desired. Collaborate with parents and caregivers through regular communication about developmental milestones, classroom activities, and individual needs through the Brightwheel app— including uploading photos and video clips throughout the day for the parents Integrate special education practices to support children with diverse learning needs or developmental delays. Facilitate age-appropriate activities for preschoolers focusing on childcare essentials such as potty training, safety routines, and basic self-care skills. Look for naturally occurring moments that can be turned into lessons in literacy, math, physical education, and other core subjects while avoiding the label of "lesson" and rather focus on fostering a love for learning (and above all, asking questions!) Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress reports, and incident reports to ensure compliance with childcare standards. Uphold child welfare policies by providing a safe, nurturing environment that promotes emotional security and physical health. Be willing to close some nights of the week (entails staying between 5-15 minutes after close to check and then lock the center up!) Wants/Requirements Proven experience working with children in preschool or daycare settings with classroom management expertise is highly desired, but other direct experience with taking care of children will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education methodologies including concepts such as Montessori approaches to child-lead learning is highly desired, but other experience and/or situations may still be considered. Experience in helping calm upset or hyper children with patience preferred, but applicants will be based on life experience. Familiarity with special education strategies and early intervention techniques to support diverse learning needs. Excellent communication skills for engaging effectively with children, parents, colleagues, and community partners. Ability to plan engaging activities based around the interests and ideas of the children that say that incorporate movement, hands-on activities, and fun! Certification in early childhood education or related field is preferred; relevant state licensing requirements must be met where applicable. Passion for nurturing young minds through innovative teaching practices and through help fulfill the children's curiosity with answers or even questions for further consideration. Commitment to child welfare standards ensuring safety protocols are consistently followed in all aspects of childcare. Join us in shaping bright futures by providing joyful learning experiences that empower children to grow confidently!
