East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is hiring School Age Childcare Educators (also known as Lead Teachers) to support our Champion Childcare and After School Enrichment Programs at Pell Elementary School . This role is ideal for educators who thrive in out-of-school time settings and are passionate about creating safe, engaging, and inclusive environments where elementary-aged children can learn, grow, and belong. This is a part-time, in-person role with consistent weekday afternoon hours during the school year. Why This Role Matters Out-of-school hours are powerful. As a School Age Childcare Educator, you play a critical role in supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally—while strengthening family partnerships and contributing to a vibrant school community. Schedule & Work Setting Part-time, in-person Monday-Friday, approximately 2:30-6:00 PM (as scheduled or as needed) School-year position with opportunities in:

Pell Elementary School Key Responsibilities What You'll Do Program & Classroom Leadership Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate curriculum and enrichment activities for elementary-aged children Create a nurturing, structured environment that supports learning, play, creativity, and social-emotional growth Build daily schedules that include homework support, literacy activities, physical activity, outdoor time, and student choice Supervise children to ensure safety at all times and maintain required program ratios Student Support Support students' academic progress through homework help and skill-building activities Use positive behavior management strategies aligned with school expectations Provide extra support to students who need additional structure or encouragement, in collaboration with school staff and program partners Family & School Partnership Serve as a bridge between the school day and out-of-school time programs, as appropriate Communicate thoughtfully with families and support family engagement efforts Build positive working relationships with school faculty, site coordinators, and EBCAP colleagues Team Collaboration & Compliance Assist in supervising and supporting Teacher Assistants, when assigned Maintain accurate documentation and participate in licensing, credentialing, and quality improvement activities Follow all EBCAP, NFCOZ, school district, and state childcare regulations Qualifications Required Qualifications At least 2 years of supervised experience in a licensed early childhood or school-age childcare program Education that meets RI DHS Childcare Regulations , such as: Associate's degree or higher (preferred) OR CDA, relevant college credits, or qualifying experience per state guidelines Experience working with elementary-aged children Strong classroom management and positive behavior support skills Ability to work collaboratively with diverse children, families, and colleagues Ability to lift up to 25-35 pounds and meet the physical demands of an active school-based program Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Human Services, or a related field Experience supporting children with diverse learning or behavioral needs Bilingual skills (Spanish, Portuguese, or Cape Verdean Creole) Passion for community-based, equity-focused education work About East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides high-quality, comprehensive, and accessible health and human services to people across eastern Rhode Island.
