Duties:
Uses approved instrument to provide developmental screening within their native language, assessment and evaluation for birth to three children as part of a multidisciplinary team to determine eligibility. Demonstrates competence in interpreting results of screening and evaluation in terms of the child's functional capabilities with an emphasis on self-help skills, fine and gross motor development, mobility, sensory integration, behavior, play and oral-motor functioning and explains results to families in a mindful manner incorporating health literacy. Creates adaptation of the environment for infants or toddlers and selects, designs and fabricates assistive devices to facilitate development and promote the acquisition of functional skills with respect to the family's culture and traditions. Develops and implements appropriate treatment plan (IFSP) with the family and EI team. Develops therapeutic activities and programs to prevent or minimize the impact of initial or future impairment, delay in development or loss of functional ability. Actively includes family throughout the entire evaluation/assessment and IFSP process. Works as member of a team to gather and organize information from multiple sources to plan an individualized evaluation/assessment and IFSP. Coordinates and maintains partnership with the family consistent communication with EI team, medical and community contacts in a professional, inclusive, compliant, and timely manner. Requirements:
Masters in Early Childhood Education; Early Childhood Special Education or Certified by the Rhode Island Department of Education as an Early Childhood Education teacher, Early Childhood Special Education teacher, All Grades Special Education-Visually Impaired teacher, All Grades Special Education-Deaf and Hard of Hearing teacher or All Grades Special Education-Severe Intellectual Disability teacher. Successful completion of the level one training of the Rhode Island Early Learning Developmental Standards - Birth to Five or ability to complete the training with one year of employment. Participate in orientation process for the agency and attend the state required Intro to EI training within the first year of employment. Early Intervention services are provided in the child's Natural Environments, which include the home, childcare settings and the community or other immediate environments natural the child and family's environment. Employees must be able to provide reliable transportation to meet job needs as well as proof of a current driver's license. Able to get at child's level, climb stairs, deal with weather conditions, lift, bend and squatting
