Job Description

About St.
Martin's Preschool:
We are a faith-based school for infants to 4K and are open year-round. We have low teacher-child ratios. Ours is a culture of love and helping one another. We are interviewing to fill an urgent postion by June 1st as a summer camp counselor for ages 4-6. It is a small class of 6. Must be able to plan fun and creative activities for planned themes. We are also hiring a part-time afternoon floater for the summer only. It can lead to a permanent positon mid-summer to fall. Full-time lead and assistant positions anticipated for July and Aug. Details provided to those who apply. The right candidate may fill the summer camp position for the summer and move into a FT position in the fall. Paid holidays:
You will get paid for these holiday weeks: 2 weeks for Christmas break, and 1 week for Spring Break and other major holidays. You are given 5 sick days a year and 5 PTO days a year in addition to 3 holiday weeks of paid time off mentioned above. After 3 years of employment, you are given an additional 3 days of PTO. After another 2 years of employment, you are given andother 2 days of PTO.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead teachers are expected to set a daily schedule and consistently follow it
  • Submit and execute developmentally appropriate lesson plans
  • Complete student assessments which are provided in the curriculum
  • Enhance and extend learning with engaging, hands-on activities beyond the basic objectives in the curriculum (beyond letters, numbers, calendar, reading, etc.)
  • Communicate daily with parents
  • Form connections with each child
  • Teach social emotional skills to children by talking through their feelings and reactions
  • Model appropriate behavior
  • Keep a calm demeanor in the classroom
  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment for students
  • Help maintain clean and sanitary classrooms by cleaning toys during naptimes if needed
  • Manage classroom behavior and ensure a positive learning atmosphere
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the educational experience
  • Contribute to a loving and supportive work environment
  • Must be able to get down on the floor and play with children, lift and carry children and be on your feet while on the playground.
  • Must be able to manage your stress so that you keep an upbeat and happy environment in your classroom.

  • Must be nurturing and willing to make the children feel loved
  • Must have and keep a positive and helpful attitude

  • Drama, grumbling, complaining, and gossiping are not permitted.
Come to the director with concerns. We don't do drama here. Negativity erodes our foundation of love and will be weeded out.
Education:
All staff is required to take ECD 101 at a technical college to earn an early childhood credential. The TEACH scholarship will cover this and award you a $400 bonus for passing with a grade C or better. SMP will also give you a $300 bonus for passing with a C or better. If you have not taken ECD 101, you will need to complete a Health and Safety Pre-Certificate within your 1st 90 days and take ECD 101 the next available semester.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 6 months experience for floater or assistant positions OR some early childhood education college course is preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year lead teacher experience is required for lead positions
