Job Description

Position Overview:
The Awesome Ones Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment for children ages 12-23 months. This role requires planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that support social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. The Lead Teacher will serve as a role model for classroom staff, ensuring that all children are cared for with love, respect, and consistency while maintaining compliance with state regulations and center policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement weekly lesson plans that promote exploration, creativity, and developmental growth for one-year-olds. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment in accordance with DSS and ABC Quality standards. Provide nurturing care that supports children's routines, including meals, naps, and diapering. Build strong, positive relationships with children, families, and staff, encouraging open communication and collaboration. Observe, document, and assess each child's progress and share updates with parents during conferences and through daily communication apps (e.g., Brightwheel). Guide and supervise assistant teachers, ensuring consistency in classroom management and instructional practices. Model and promote positive guidance techniques, avoiding punitive practices such as time-outs. Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance knowledge and skills. Communicate effectively with the Director regarding classroom needs, concerns, and achievements.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred. At least 1 year of experience working with infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare setting (lead teacher experience preferred). Knowledge of child development principles and best practices for one-year-olds. Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills. Commitment to the mission and values of Bible Way Community Learning Center.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry children up to 35 pounds. Frequent bending, standing, sitting on the floor, and moving around the classroom.
Work Hours:
Full-time, Monday-Friday Job Types:

$13.50 - $15.50 per hour
