Position Summary:
The teacher of preschool children with disabilities will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that supports the developmental, social, and emotional growth of children ages 3-5. This role requires a strong commitment to fostering school readiness and building meaningful relationships with students, families, and the community. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (required) Valid South Carolina teaching certification in early childhood education (or eligibility to obtain) Experience working with preschool-aged children with disabilities (preferred) Strong classroom management and communication skills Ability to work effectively with diverse needs CPR and CPI certified (or willingness to obtain the certification) Key Responsibilities Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with South Carolina early learning standards Under general supervision, facilitate the development of Individualized Educational Programs (IEP's) for students who have been identified as having disabilities under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and social interaction Support children's growth in language, literacy, math, motor skills, and social-emotional development Demonstrates and evaluates the effectiveness of both formative and summative assessments; analyzes assessment data in relation to student learning and develops instructional strategies to close the learning and performance gap and fulfill IEP goals and objectives Observe and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and documentation Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student development and classroom activities Collaborate with school staff, administrators, and support services to meet student needs Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment Participate in recommended professional development and district training opportunities
