Early Head Start Teacher - Learn N Play Center 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 3031 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro, SC 29488 Full-time Lowcountry Community Action Agency 9 reviews Full-time The Early Head Start Teacher is responsible for providing a high-quality, developmentally appropriate early childhood education program for infants and toddlers (ages 0-3). This position ensures a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that promotes school readiness, family engagement, and child development in alignment with Office of Head Start Performance Standards (45 CFR Part 1302). Key Responsibilities Child Development & Education Plan and implement individualized, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with the Early Head Start curriculum. Support children's cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical development. Conduct ongoing child assessments and maintain accurate documentation (e.g., Teaching Strategies GOLD or equivalent). Ensure classroom environments are responsive to infants' and toddlers' needs, including routines and continuity of care. Health, Safety & Supervision Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy classroom environment at all times. Follow all licensing, health, and safety regulations, including active supervision protocols. Ensure proper sanitation, diapering, feeding, and sleep practices. Family Engagement Build positive, respectful relationships with families as primary educators of their children. Conduct home visits and parent-teacher conferences as required. Encourage family participation in program activities and goal-setting. Program Compliance & Documentation Maintain compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) and agency policies. Complete timely and accurate documentation, including attendance, assessments, and incident reports. Participate in monitoring reviews, audits, and continuous quality improvement efforts. Collaboration & Professionalism Work collaboratively with Teacher Assistants, Family Advocates, and Disabilities/Mental Health staff. Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field (Bachelor's Degree preferred) Must have or obtain Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within required timeframe if not already held Experience working with infants and toddlers (0-3 years) preferred Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices Additional Requirements Ability to pass
SLED/FBI
background check , Central Registry, and drug screening Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and engage in active classroom participation Core Competencies Strong classroom management and organizational skills Knowledge of infant/toddler development and responsive caregiving practices Effective communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to serving low-income families and diverse communities Work Environment This position operates in a classroom setting serving infants and toddlers and requires frequent bending, lifting, and floor-level interaction.
