Career Opportunity at the Washington Pavilion in Education! Long-Term Preschool Substitute Teacher The Long-Term Preschool Substitute Teacher provides consistent classroom support during an extended staff absence. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for preschool-aged children while following established curriculum plans, classroom routines, and licensing requirements. The substitute works collaboratively with preschool staff, families, and leadership to ensure continuity of care and educational experiences. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Lead daily preschool classroom activities and routines in the absence of the regular teacher Implement lesson plans and educational activities that support early childhood development Foster a positive, inclusive, and welcoming classroom environment Supervise children to ensure safety and appropriate behavior at all times Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and required documentation Communicate professionally with parents, caregivers, and staff regarding daily activities and student needs Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and organizational policies Collaborate with preschool team members to ensure smooth daily operations Assist with snack time, restroom routines, transitions, and other classroom needs Qualifications Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred Knowledge of early childhood development and classroom management practices Ability to maintain a structured and engaging learning environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain Ability to pass required background checks Physical Requirements Ability to actively engage with young children throughout the day Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 30 pounds Ability to supervise indoor and outdoor activities Schedule & Terms Temporary long-term substitute position Schedule may vary based on program needs Expected to maintain reliable attendance throughout assignment period Reports To Manager of Education & Programming or Director of Education and Museums If this is a great fit for you to work in an amazing place filled with creative energy and excitement, Apply for it Today !
