Job Description
The Childcare Assistant Director is a key member of the administrative leadership team, responsible for supporting the daily operations of the center while fostering positive relationships with children, families, and staff. This position oversees enrollment, family services, student records, financial account coordination, regulatory compliance, and staff support to ensure the center operates efficiently and maintains the highest standards of quality care. Working collaboratively with the Executive Director, and Family Services Coordinator, the Assistant Director helps create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment where children thrive, families feel supported, and employees are empowered to succeed. This salaried position typically works Monday through Friday, 8:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., with occasional evenings or weekends for meetings and special events. Key Responsibilities Manage student enrollment, admissions, waitlists, and classroom transitions. Coordinate family communications, tours, and community partnerships. Assist with staff scheduling, classroom coverage, and maintaining required staff-to-child ratios. Support educators with child health documentation, attendance reporting, and community engagement Collaborate with leadership on center operations, special events, employee support, and program development. Foster a positive, inclusive culture that supports children, families, staff, volunteers, and community partners. Perform other administrative and operational duties as assigned. Qualifications Early Childhood credential with at least one year of classroom teaching experience required. Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred. Experience in early childhood administration, family services, or child-focused programs preferred. Knowledge of DHS licensing standards, CACFP, and state childcare programs. Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and leadership skills. Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, staff, community partners, and board members. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other common office and communication platforms.
Pay:
$19.00 - $21.00 per hour
