General Position Summary:
Organizes and leads the activities of pre-kindergarten children and provides other assistance in the implementation of a pre-school program. Provide a warm, accepting learning environment for children.
Principal Accountabilities:
General Administration Prepares daily and weekly lesson plans in accordance with the needs of the children and the philosophy of the preschool program. Uses positive reinforcement or redirection to maintain discipline and manage behavior. Informs the Director of unreasonable behavior, parent complaints, or other problems. Organizes and participates in games, reads to children, sing songs, and teaches simple painting, drawing, and handwork. Directs children in eating, resting and toileting. Supervises children in clean-up. Serves snacks, drinks, and/or meals. Supervises children in hygiene.
Clean-up the room:
clean tables, sweep and vacuum floors, remove trash, and return equipment to storage areas. Plan and clarify expectations for any assistant who may be assigned to the class. Keeps attendance records of children in the classroom. Communicates with parents as needed or requested, including but not limited to parent conferences. Ensures equipment is maintained and requests repairs or new equipment as needed. Manages the proper storage and disposal of confidential information and personally identifiable information (PII) in accordance with policy and law. Performs all other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements:
This position works in a typical preschool classroom environment and requires the ability to lift young children and change diapers and/or clothing, if necessary. Ability to accept work interruptions while remaining focused on duties. Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of emotion. Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis
Travel Requirements:
None.
Education and Experience Preferred:
A practicing member of the Roman Catholic Church (preferred), in good standing. High School diploma or GED. Two years' experience working with young children.
CPR Certified:
Obtainable after hire. Successful completion of the Diocesan Safe Environment process.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
Must love children. Demonstrated history of good judgement. Demonstrated aptitude for adaptability and flexibility. Works well in a team setting. Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality. Ability to receive, understand, retain, and complete verbal and written tasks. Ability to work well with people from a diverse variety of audiences. Demonstrated ability to skillset to listen empathetically, make peace, and de-escalate. Bilingual (Spanish/ English) is desirable, but not required.

Non-Exempt, Part-time 20-29 hours/week, Onsite
