Job Description
Children's Lighthouse of Trinity Falls Education and Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age (25 if responsible for driving a bus). High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred. Minimum of one year of experience working with the specified age group. Knowledge and understanding of all current State and Local regulations.Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Create and maintain a positive, nurturing, and safe environment for children. Ensure the health and safety of all children, minimizing accidents through supervision and proactive measures. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the classroom, including bathroom areas. Arrange the classroom to promote a structured learning environment, ensuring materials are accessible and engaging. Keep classroom learning centers enriched with teacher-made materials, real-world objects, and multicultural items. Ensure all equipment is available and children are taught how to use it appropriately. Maintain required bulletin boards per school guidelines. Provide consistent and active supervision of children, ensuring they are never left alone. Accurately account for all children in your care, including knowing their names and ages. Develop and post lesson plans that reflect the current curriculum and submit supply lists as needed. Plan and execute smooth transitions between activities. Implement and adhere to a structured daily schedule.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Genuinely enjoys working with children and demonstrates a sincere interest in their growth. Speaks with a calm and gentle tone, actively listens, and communicates with respect. Teaches problem-solving skills and takes advantage of teachable moments. Maintains awareness of the classroom while focusing on individual children's needs. Acts as a positive role model, using encouraging and positive language. Consistently interacts and engages with children to foster learning. Creates and maintains an orderly, calm, and inclusive environment. Supports cultural diversity and inclusivity in the classroom. Encourages independence by allowing children to make choices. Uses positive redirection and reinforcement techniques to guide behavior. Physically capable of lifting and carrying children as needed. Must be able to stand for up to 90% of the workday. Ability to stoop, bend, and sit at the child's level. Able to physically and mentally respond to children's needs, including moderate and vigorous physical activity.General Responsibilities:
Complete and submit all required records, including time sheets, attendance records, and incident reports. Adhere to all Children's Lighthouse policies and procedures as outlined in manuals and official memos. Maintain professionalism, including punctuality, appropriate dress code, and positive attitude. Foster a gossip-free, teamwork-driven environment. Remain flexible and open to changes and adaptations. Provide support to fellow staff members as needed. Participate in school extracurricular activities and events. Attend and complete all required teacher training and professional development hours. Actively participate in staff meetings and demonstrate ongoing interest in professional growth. Exhibit emotional maturity, stability, and sound judgment in handling crisis situations. Accept and implement feedback and evaluations constructively. Maintain and complete an inventory of curriculum materials. Mentor and train the Assistant Teacher in curriculum implementation and classroom management. Teachers report to the School Management Team, Assistant Director, and/or School Director.Job Type:
