Primary Purpose:
Provide supervision for children in the child development center with infants, toddlers, and preschool children, and may provide supervision for program staff in the absence of the Director. Must exercise judgment in managing program staff and student behavior. Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification): High school diploma or GED; three (3) years of successful Child Development Center experience. Must be able to be recognized as an Operational Director as described in minimum standards for Child Development Center programs under the guidelines set forth by the Texas Department of Family and protective services. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in early childhood or related field is preferred.
Major Responsibilities:
Coordinate with PfISD Pfirst Steps Academy Site Director in order to meet the needs of the program and children. Know and comply with the Educator Code of Conduct and all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations, DFPS Minimum Standards, Texas Rising Star Program Standards, and other PfISD Childcare policies and procedures. Directly supervise Group Leaders and children at assigned center ensuring compliance with DFPS Minimum Standards and PfISD Childcare policies and procedures Utilize program curriculum resources to plan and implement quality licensed childcare programming. Order, maintain, and track supplies/materials to ensure integrity and diligence of District resources. Maintain accurate record keeping, including attendance and student milestone tracking, using approved Pfirst Steps Academy software and/or systems. Schedule, observe and document child information to share during parent conferences. Meet regularly with PfISD Childcare designated supervisor and support staff to discuss areas of success and improvement. Complete 20 hours of training annually in accordance with DFPS Minimum Standards. Obtain and Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification, UDCA Training, immediately upon hire. Other duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws as well as district, campus, and PfISD Childcare operating procedures and guidelines. Knowledge of DFPS Minimum Standards [section 744 & 746 as designated on site licenses] and quality childcare programming. Knowledge of administrative support and file maintenance techniques. Skill in communicating effectively with others Skills in effective customer service Skill in working with various types of equipment including, but not limited to personal computers, fax machines, printers and multi-lines phone systems. Skill in working with word processing and spreadsheet computer applications. Skill in working in collaborative team-based environments.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The PfISD Childcare Lead Childcare Associate will directly supervise childcare Group Leaders and children in care. Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands): Maintain emotional control under stress; must be able to lift and/or carry 30 lbs independently and over 50 lbs with assistance. Must be able to work the hours of 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday - Friday and be available to work to fulfill the 197-day work service calendar as set each year by the PfISD Childcare Director. Work hours may rotate on a flexible basis as needed to support various program needs.
