year minimum Position Summary The Assistant Director supports the Director in the planning, coordination, and execution of organizational, programmatic, or operational objectives. This role acts as a key member of leadership, helping translate strategic goals into daily operations while ensuring compliance with applicable Texas laws, regulations, and organizational policies. In the San Antonio region, the Assistant Director often collaborates with diverse communities, public entities, and stakeholders to advance inclusive and effective services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Director in developing, implementing, and monitoring strategic plans, policies, and procedures. Oversee daily operations, projects, or programs as assigned, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance. Supervise and support managers, coordinators, or professional staff; provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development. Prepare reports, presentations, and briefings for executive leadership, boards, or governing bodies. Support budget development, fiscal monitoring, and resource allocation in accordance with Texas financial and procurement standards. Coordinate interdepartmental and external partnerships, including local governments, nonprofits, vendors, and community stakeholders. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state (Texas), and local laws, regulations, and accreditation or funding requirements. Represent the organization in meetings, public forums, or community events as delegated by the Director. Act as Director in their absence, exercising independent judgment and decision-making authority. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of organizational management, administration, and operational best practices. Familiarity with Texas statutes, administrative rules, and local government or industry-specific regulations (as applicable). Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to analyze data, prepare clear reports, and make informed recommendations. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in standard office software and relevant management or reporting systems. Cultural competence and ability to work effectively with diverse populations, particularly within the San Antonio and South Texas region. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Education, Social Services, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Minimum of 1-2 years of progressively responsible experience in management, administration, or program leadership. Prior supervisory or team leadership experience required. Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements Valid Texas driver's license (if travel is required). Ability to pass background checks or clearances as required by Texas law or organizational policy. Working Conditions Primarily office-based with periodic meetings, site visits, or community engagement activities. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required. Preferred Attributes for San Antonio-Based Roles Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
