Summary/Objective:
Facilitate students' academic growth by offering tailored learning activities and experiences in their assigned core subject areas. Empower them to reach their full potential intellectually, emotionally, physically, socially, and spiritually. Ultimately, equips students with the competencies and skills necessary for success in society.
Required Education, Licenses, Certifications, and Experience:
High School Diploma/ GED Bachelor's Degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, or related field Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for the subject and level assigned Background check clearance is required Certification in CPR and First Aid for children and infants All teachers must complete Ministry Safe training as mandated by the church. All teachers are required to fulfill 24 hours of continuing education annually, calculated from their date of hire. Access to dependable transportation for commuting to and from work Work authorization/security clearance required: Must be eligible to work in the United States Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional milestones typical for preschool-aged children Ability to explain religious concepts and Bible stories in an age-appropriate manner Skill in following and adapting a faith-based curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners Creativity in developing engaging and interactive activities that reinforce Christian teachings Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching strategies, educational theories, and learning frameworks for preschool education Familiarity with creating a positive and safe learning environment, including behavior management techniques suitable for young children Awareness of guidelines and protocols specific to preschool settings, including emergency procedures and sanitation standards Effective interaction with young children, parents, and colleagues, including active listening and verbal expression Development of engaging learning activities, games, and materials that cater to diverse learning styles and interests Ability to exhibit understanding when addressing young children's unique needs and behaviors Flexibility to adapt teaching methods based on individual student needs and changing classroom circumstances Skill in working with parents, educators, and support staff to create a supportive learning environment Effective lesson delivery that promotes language development, early literacy, numeracy, and social skills Ability to observe children's behavior accurately and use assessment tools to evaluate developmental milestones Ability to manage conflicts among children constructively and age-appropriately Creating an inclusive learning environment that respects diversity in backgrounds and abilities Proficiency in planning and organizing daily schedules, lessons, and materials
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and implements age-appropriate lesson plans and activities to foster the intellectual, emotional, social development, and spiritual growth in learning about Jesus Christ for preschool-aged children. Creates a positive and nurturing classroom environment that promotes learning, creativity, and exploration. Facilitates children's participation in educational experiences that enhance their cognitive skills, language development, and early literacy and numeracy skills. Assesses individual children's progress and development through observation, documentation, and formal assessments. Collaborates with parents and guardians to support children's learning and address any concerns or questions regarding their child's development and behavior. Establishes and maintains effective communication with colleagues and other staff members to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational environment. Implements appropriate behavior management techniques to promote positive social interactions and self-regulation skills among children. Maintains a safe and clean classroom environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and guidelines. Plans and organizes special events, field trips, and parent-teacher conferences to engage parents and enrich children's learning experiences. Participates in professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in early childhood education and enhance teaching skills and knowledge. Teaches Science, Math, and Cooking on designated days and Fine Arts on others to provide a well-rounded educational experience. Supervises field trips to ensure the safety and engagement of preschool-aged children. Submits weekly lesson plans tailored to the developmental needs of the children. Communicates weekly with families through various channels such as email, paper newsletters, etc., to keep them informed about classroom activities. Teaches religious concepts and Bible stories in an age-appropriate manner. Teaches faith-based curriculum to meet the needs of diverse young learners. Implements creativity in developing engaging and interactive activities that reinforce Christian teachings. Greets children and parents in a welcoming and professional manner with a smile. Exhibits the love of Christ and the Church's and the Preschool's mission statement. Exhibits preparedness before children arrive and does their share to ensure the daycare facility is ready to receive them. Attends weekly chapel sessions with the class, fostering spiritual growth and community engagement (if applicable). Physical and Mental Requirements and Abilities The role of a Certified Preschool Teacher often requires the ability to work effectively in a moderate to fast-paced environment. This environment typically involves frequent activities, interactions, and tasks that must be completed within specified timeframes. Additionally, interruptions and unexpected events may occur, which can require flexibility and adaptability while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Certified Preschool Teacher to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee frequently sits and/or stands. The employee may occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, and/or move up to 45 pounds. The employee will constantly use their fingers, hands, wrist, elbow, and any necessary upper extremities to do so. Employees may occasionally have to twist, pull, or stretch. The employee will frequently read print or computer material with various text sizes and colors. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust the focus with and or without using prescribed or over-the-counter optical glasses, contact lenses, or other visual aids. The Certified Preschool Teacher may be exposed to various (fair to extreme) weather conditions.
