Job Description

Base Pay:
$17-$20/hour
Schedule:
Monday-Thursday from 12 pm-9 pm, Fridays from 12 pm-5 pm plus rotating on-call (includes occasional overnight response) About the Role The Family Support Center's Crisis Nursery provides 24/7 emergency childcare for children ages 0-11 whose caregivers are experiencing crisis or overwhelming stress. This is a hands-on childcare position in a trauma-informed crisis setting. You will provide direct care, supervise children, support emotional regulation, document visits, and help maintain a safe, structured environment. Key Responsibilities Supervise children ages 0-11 in a 24/7 crisis nursery Provide infant, toddler, and school-age care (feeding, diapering, soothing, redirection) Use trauma-informed approaches to support children experiencing stress or dysregulation Complete required documentation and incident reports Prepare meals and maintain a clean, safe space Participate in a rotating emergency on-call schedule Respond onsite overnight during assigned rotation if an after-hours emergency occurs Qualifications & Requirements Experience in childcare (daycare, preschool, nanny, classroom, residential care, etc.) Ability to remain calm and steady in high-stress situations Comfort working with children from vulnerable or at-risk environments Strong documentation skills and ability to maintain confidential records Reliable transportation and ability to travel to multiple FSC locations if needed Willingness to participate in rotating on-call responsibilities Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, climb stairs, sit on the floor, and perform routine cleaning tasks Must pass a Department of Health and Human Services background check upon hire Ability to understand and/or speak Spanish is a plus. This role requires emotional steadiness, teamwork, and a commitment to trauma-informed crisis care. Training & Support We provide paid training in CPR/First Aid, trauma-informed care, mandated reporting, and required childcare standards. Ongoing professional development is part of our culture.
