Annual Reviews Substitute Teacher Job Description:
  • This is an on-call position
  • Hours will vary week to week based as needed.
  • The ability to work at all 3 locations (Bowie, MD and Alexandria, VA ,Silver Spring MD) is preferred.
  • Ensure the safety of each child enrolled in the class whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in common areas
  • Maintain regular observation of children's development and progress
  • Assist in planning and implementation of daily lesson plans
  • Maintain the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and cleanliness of the learning environment of the classroom
  • Serve as a role model for the children in the areas of attitude, speech and actions Treat each child with dignity and respect
  • Encourage children's development in the areas of building self-confidence, problem solving, and taking responsibility for their actions
  • Interact with each child through circle time, centers, snacks, lunchtime, playground, free play, etc
  • Maintain positive relationships with children, staff and parents -Work well as a member of collaborative team focused on positive outcomes

2 years (Required)
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent (Required) MSDE Approved Basic Health and Safety Training (Required) Virginia Pre-Service ( 10 hrs ) Virginia ( Health Safety ( 3 hrs ) First Aid and CPR Training (Preferred) CDA (Preferred)
Other Requirements:
FLUENT in either Spanish or English Basic to Proficient level in second language of English or Spanish Meet the Maryland State Dept. Of Education Office of Child Care requirements to lead child care programs for infants/toddlers and preschoolers (ages 2-5) Possess strong interpersonal skills. Practice excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor. Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic at all times.
