Job Description

Position Summary:
The Co-Teacher is responsible for providing a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for a range of children ages. This position focuses on promoting physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth through hands-on exploration, structured routines, and individualized care.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of toddlers at all times. Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support language development, motor skills, social interaction, and early learning concepts. Establish and maintain consistent daily routines, including circle time, story time, sensory play, music, and outdoor exploration. Provide individual attention to meet each child's unique developmental needs. Support toddlers in learning self-help skills such as feeding, cleaning up, and beginning toilet readiness (if applicable). Communicate daily with parents/guardians about their child's routines, milestones, and progress. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment. Document developmental observations and participate in child assessments as required. Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety guidelines, and center policies. Collaborate with co-teachers and staff to ensure consistent and high-quality care.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and sit on the floor to actively engage with toddlers. Must be able to lift, carry, and move children and classroom equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to move quickly in response to children's needs and in emergency situations. Must be able to spend extended periods both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Requires sufficient vision, hearing, speech, and mobility to supervise and interact effectively with children.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education preferred. Previous experience caring for toddlers in a licensed childcare or educational setting. Knowledge of toddler development, positive guidance strategies, and age-appropriate practices. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Must meet all state licensing requirements, including background checks and health screenings.
Work Schedule:
Full-time or part-time schedule based on center needs. Availability Monday through Friday, including some flexibility for training, meetings, or special events.
