Job Description

Music Teacher Job Description Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement a weekly curriculum to promote music literacy and learning for children ages 2-5 that adheres to the guidelines of Creative Curriculum for developmentally appropriate practices.
  • In the capacity of music teacher, the employee is responsible for lesson preparation and the planning, practice, and direction of two (2) music concerts per school year, one at Christmas, and one in the Spring. The employee will consult with the Director of the Preschool in the planning and preparation of the concerts.
  • Position includes approximately 2.5 hours per week of classroom instruction, with 1 hour out- of-classroom for planning. Position works September - May. Teaching days are typically Monday and Thursday, but might be flexible.
  • Adhere to monthly and seasonal changes for themes and monthly Bible verses.
  • Coordinate scheduling for class and practices with the Director and other preschool teachers.
  • Adhere to DSS regulations regarding health and safety for the students. Successful candidates must possess the following:
  • A love for children and an ability to relate to them, their families, and other teachers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A positive attitude and the desire to be a team player.
  • Experience teaching in a classroom is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Music or Education is preferred.

  • Willingness and ability to promote Christian holidays and values.
