Job Description

Behavioral Interventionists on our School-Based Services Teams help remove barriers to education for children and youth with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges, with a strong focus on early intervention for preschool and early childhood populations. By supporting young children during critical stages of development, you help build foundational skills in emotional regulation, communication, and social interaction that set the stage for long-term success. Using a strengths-based, developmentally appropriate approach, you support children in building coping skills, confidence, and positive relationships. Through close collaboration with families, early childhood educators, and mental health providers, your work contributes to improved stability, school readiness, and access to learning opportunities across early childhood, school, and community settings. Duties and Responsibilities Deliver hands-on behavioral support to young children in early learning, school, and community environments. Carry out individualized support strategies that strengthen self-regulation, early communication, and peer interaction. Assist children through daily activities and transitions to support predictability, engagement, and readiness for learning. Use play-based and relationship-centered techniques to encourage positive behaviors and skill development. Work closely with caregivers, educators, and clinical staff to align approaches across home and educational settings. Observe, track, and record behavioral progress and interventions according to agency guidelines. Use preventative strategies and de-escalation techniques to maintain safe, supportive environments. Participate in team meetings, consultation, and training related to early childhood behavioral support.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to engage and communicate positively with young children. Ability to maintain safety in various settings and to remain calm in challenging situations. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to communicate and collaborate well with parents, school staff, WCMHS staff, and other professionals. Valid driver's license, excellent driving record, and access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle, and willingness to transport clients in personal vehicle. Ability to lift and/or transport up to 50 pounds as well as execute restraint techniques (training provided). Ability to frequently change position and move about and around a school setting.
