Aug 19, 2026 Job Description The Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union is seeking a dynamic Early Childhood Special Educator. The Special Educator's duties include providing services to 3-5 year-old students as well as case management, evaluating students, and paperwork compliance according to the child's IEP at a variety of locations. Applicants should be knowledgeable in developmentally appropriate instructional practices, educational assessments, special education identification, IEP development, and case management. The Early Childhood Special Educator works closely with related service providers, prekindergarten programs, families, and community agencies. As an itinerant position, the Early Childhood Special Educator will travel to multiple sites throughout the supervisory union, such as schools, Universal PreK partner sites, or community settings. The position has a full-time equivalency (FTE) of 0.50. The displayed salary range has been prorated for the FTE of the position. Prorated benefits come with the position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide services to families and children from ages 3 to 5: developmental evaluation, child and family; 2. Provides comprehensive evaluation for children for suspected developmental delays or disabilities: motor skills, cognition, communication and social-emotional areas. 3. Assists families in understanding child development, identifying developmentally appropriate expectations, and understating the etiology and physiology of the child's delay, disability, and/or diagnosed condition. Supports the family by relating this information to the needs of the child, and by providing strategies and resources to assist the family in addressing the child's needs. 4. Facilitates transition planning and activities for the child and family as they exit birth-age 3 services.
