Job Description

Are you a patient, nurturing, curious, fun-loving observer and facilitator in the early childhood classroom? Do you love to play, sing, laugh, and work closely with children and their families? Are you ready to be valued as an educator and respected as an expert in your field? Hinesburg Nursery School is a non-profit, 5-STAR parent-cooperative preschool for children ages three to five. Located in the heart of Hinesburg, we have been serving local families since 1972. We emphasize the importance of play in the learning environment, and are seeking a teacher who is passionate about early childhood education, knowledgeable about child development and developmentally appropriate practice in the early childhood classroom, and committed to providing a child-centered and playful environment in which children learn through authentic experience, based on their emerging interests. Our teachers have a long history at HNS, and we are looking for someone who is ready to settle down and stay for a while. What does it mean to teach at a parent cooperative school? You are surrounded by families who are passionate about and invested in their children's education. While teachers have autonomy over curriculum planning, classroom management, and facilitation of activities, teachers and families share the same philosophy of early childhood education, recognizing families as the child's first teacher and an important part of the early learning team. In addition, families take on meaningful and important administrative and "behind the scenes" roles that ensure the school runs smoothly.
