  • Full-time ABC Academy is seeking warm, attentive preschool teacher to support our students in a nurturing, nature-rich environment.
This role centers on responsive caregiving, sensory exploration, and relationship-based teaching grounded in outdoor and place-based learning. As a teacher, you will foster early development through gentle routines, exploration of the natural world, and hands-on experiences that support language, movement, emotional security, and emerging independence. Who You Are A teacher who deeply understands early development, attachment, and responsive caregiving Someone who delights in messy play, sensory exploration, and outdoor experiences in all seasons Comfortable supporting toddlers in nature-rich environments with appropriate supervision and safety Calm, patient, and emotionally attuned to the needs of very young children A collaborative early childhood educator who values relationships with children, families, and colleagues Passionate about fostering curiosity, confidence, and trust through child-led exploration Duties / Responsibilities Provide consistent, nurturing care that supports toddlers' emotional security and attachment Facilitate developmentally appropriate, play-based learning using nature as the primary classroom Guide children through outdoor experiences such as garden play, short nature walks, water play, and sensory exploration Support early language development through conversation, songs, stories, and shared experiences Promote physical development through climbing, walking, carrying, digging, and outdoor movement Observe and respond to children's cues, rhythms, and individual developmental needs Maintain predictable routines that support feeding, rest, diapering/toileting, and transitions Foster social-emotional growth through modeling, co-regulation, and gentle guidance Ensure a safe, inclusive, and joyful learning environment indoors and outdoors Communicate daily with families about routines, milestones, and classroom experiences Collaborate with team members to align care practices and explain toddler development through a nature-based lens Experience Previous experience working with children in a childcare or early childhood setting preferred Experience in play-based, outdoor, or nature-inspired environments is a plus Understanding of child development, including attachment, sensory processing, and emerging autonomy Experience supporting children's physical care needs (feeding, diapering, rest) with dignity and respect Experience observing and documenting early developmental milestones Qualifications Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions with toddlers CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Early childhood education coursework or experience preferred Forest school, Reggio Emilia, Montessori, or relationship-based care experience is a plus Ability to lift, carry, and physically support children as needed Why Join ABC Academy?
