If you are a compassionate and self-motivated individual with a specific interest in education, we urge you to apply! In this position, you will be responsible for the care and supervision of children ages 1 month to 4 years, preparing lesson materials as directed by the lead teacher, maintaining a sanitary and infection free environment and participating as a collaborative member of a team of professionals. The successful candidate must enjoy working with children and be devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment. To excel in this role, you must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as in-depth knowledge of classroom activities and teaching methods.
Teacher Assistant Responsibilities:
Work with the lead teachers to monitor the class and assure the growth, development and safety of all enrolled children. Attend to the personal needs of children. Change diapers, assist older children with toileting, assist children with changing clothing, taking off and putting on shoes and general hygiene including hand washing and basic infection control behaviors such as covering a cough and use of tissues. Assist with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment. Ensure the classroom environment is sanitary and infection free. Collaborate with leadership staff to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions. Help implement lesson plans. Monitor the safety of children in the classroom and on the playground. Comply with state, school, and class rules and regulations. Must pass a Criminal Background Check and test negative on a Urine Drug Screen.

James' Place Child Development Center is a highly professional Early Learning Center providing care to children ages 1 month - 5 years of age. With a high staff to child ratio, teachers are able to develop close personal relationships with the children and the families. Our curriculum is multifaceted and scaffolded across age & developmental levels. Our location in the downtown area affords opportunities for creating teachable moments through our walking program. Children participate weekly in story hour at the local Children's library program.
