Teacher Subsitute Kent Youth and Family Services - 3.6 Kent, WA Job Details Part-time $23.82 - $33.65 an hour 23 hours ago Qualifications Driver's License Pediatric first aid Full Job Description Kent Youth and Family Services is hiring a substitute teacher for our Early Learning Head Start and ECEAP programs. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive learning experiences for preschool-age children to help them develop school readiness skills. To enhance the parent's role as the principal influence on their child's development. DUTIES and
RESPONSIBILITIES
: Knowledge of age-appropriate activities, lesson planning, and stages of child development. Provide varied curriculum and rich learning environments that support the diverse cultures and backgrounds of the children and families.
Competence in curriculum areas:
social/emotional, arts, science, music, math & language, and literacy. Competence in planning, organizing, scheduling, arranging & managing a classroom; documenting and recording information, storing them in a confidential manner. Ability to relate and communicate respectfully with children, families, and staff of diverse backgrounds. Ability to effectively provide direction, train, and modeling for Teacher Assistants, parents and volunteers. Ability to be an active team member in cross-component planning, evaluation, & training opportunities. Meet with parents in their home to build relationships, partner in educational planning and goal setting, and to support the parent's engagement in their child's education.
JOB TYPE/SHEDULE
Fill in as a substitute as needed Monday to Friday, day shift.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Competence in various curriculum arts, science, literacy, math & language development. Competence in planning, organizing, scheduling, classroom arrangement and management, staff and parent communications, and record keeping. Ability to relate effectively with children, families, community members, and staff of diverse background.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
AA/BA in Early Childhood Education and at least one year experience in a preschool classroom, (ECEAP) OR Current Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsement in ECE or Early Childhood Special Education with experience teaching pre-school age, OR AA or higher degree in a related field with 20 credits in Elementary Ed, Child Development, Special Education, Human Development, or Child and Family Studies.
MIMIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Proof of physical examination, including TB test. If positive, chest x-ray or doctor's statement. Obtain First Aid, Infant/Child CPR card and a Food Handler's permit within 90 days of hire and keep current. Completion of a successful criminal history and Portal Background Check including fingerprinting. Must provide documents of measles immunization or resistance prior to working with kids. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet family need including some evenings. Must be able to travel to meetings and home visits in personal vehicle or agency vans. Valid Washington State driver's license, acceptable driving record, personal automobile for use of job related transportation, adequate and current auto insurance meeting minimum Washington vehicle insurance requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Work with small and large groups and withstand increased noise levels and/or loud environments. Physical agility to participate, supervise events and classrooms as needed. Generally good working conditions with limited or no exposure to extremes in noises, temperature, and weather conditions. Must have the ability to assist child(ren) during emergencies and daily activities, including occasionally lifting and holding them. Lift up to 60 pounds with or with out assistance, as well as move educational materials and equipment. Stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and work with children on the floor for extended periods of time. Follow universal precautions when caring for children's hygiene needs, including toileting and emergencies.
