Job Description

At Marysville Cooperative Preschool we offer a shared learning experience for children and their grown-ups. Through a play-based curriculum, we work together to help children and adults learn in a nurturing environment conducive to exploration.
Position Description:
We are seeking to fill teaching position(s) for our 3's and 4's class. The class schedule is as follows: 3's class
  • Mon-Wed 9:15AM
  • 11:15AM 4's class
  • Mon-Thurs 12:00PM
  • 2:30PM The preschool year runs September through May, adhering to the Marysville School District calendar for holidays and breaks during that time.
  • Attendance is required at member and teacher meetings (monthly). There will also be a monthly review with the executive board.
  • 30 minute monthly zoom meeting with executive board, the Monday prior to a board meeting, which is held the first Wednesday of every month.
  • Member meetings occur the third Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8:30 pm from September through May.
  • Teacher meeting times are typically once a month during the school year on Friday afternoons at Edmonds College
  • A typical week includes classroom setup, prep time, class time.
Average is 6-10 hours teaching hours/week, additional time will be factored in for planning, prep, and set up/tear down purposes. The teacher will lead class in a nurturing, energetic manner, and may direct parents in their classroom roles to facilitate children's social development and experience. An ideal candidate will implement an age-appropriate, play-based curriculum, with the ability to remain open to collaboration from a variety of resources (parent, student, fellow preschool teachers, parent educator).
Responsibilities:
  • Plans and prepares developmentally appropriate curriculum, including daily activities that are engaging and varied throughout the year. Maintains a balanced daily schedule fostering creative, physical, collaborative, and imaginative play opportunities that encourage independence.
  • Leads the class, helps direct member roles. Uses positive guidance techniques to act as a model for parents in working with young children. Familiar with conscious discipline techniques.
  • Spends class time observing, interacting, and participating in activities with the children.
  • Communicates with members, the Cooperative Board, Parent Educators, and other cooperative teachers in a supportive, caring, and consistent way.
  • Commitment to continuing education, within the co-op structure as well as outside opportunities.
  • Share classroom space and monitors supply inventory with our school's other teachers.
  • Works closely with our preschool's Edmonds College Parent Educator(s)
  • Attends monthly board and member meetings, occurring on the first and third Wednesday evenings of each month.
  • Attends monthly teacher meetings at Edmonds College.
  • Fulfill some commitments in Summer of 2024, including classroom set-up, summer social, member orientation, training, and co-teacher planning.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in early childhood education or actively pursuing Early Childhood Education degree
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification required, or within 30 days of hire.
  • Must pass a background check

$22-26/hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience
