Job Description

John Knox Community Preschool staff members are committed to reflecting the love God has for them and has shown through Jesus Christ, to our school community: students, their families, and fellow staff. Staff work to establish a loving and safe environment for children and their parents within their classroom and our school. Staff recognize the importance of helping students grow in all ways and are committed to providing developmentally appropriate activities for children in our care that nurture children's curiosity and support their desire to learn. Primarily, staff recognize the privilege and trust given to us by families to help their students grow into all that God created them to be, and to connect with children in ways that acknowledge the preciousness of these early childhood years, gently guiding growth. Positions begin in late August and continue through the beginning of June, with options for continued employment in summer camps and subsequent years. Hours vary by position needs, from 19-25 hours weekly depending on roles filled. Monday - Friday schedule.
Requirements:
An active faith in Jesus Christ and an ability to model Christian values through daily interactions with children, their families and co-workers A deep love for young children and their families and a strong desire to nurture social-emotional, spiritual, physical and educational growth 2+ years of proven experience as a Preschool Teacher Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods Excellent communication for effective communication with children, parents and assistant teachers Excellent instructional skills with children Associate Degree or State Certificate in the field of
Early Childhood Education Responsibilities:
Keep a Christ-like attitude that is welcoming to all members of our community as the central focus of interactions with students, families, and staff. Communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of audiences (students, parents, and fellow staff members) verbally and in writing. Support the social-emotional needs of students with a variety of behavioral supports and practices. Work collaboratively with school administrators, fellow staff, parents, and community members. Implement engaging lesson plans that align with the preschool curriculum Manage classroom activities and ensure a safe learning environment Monitor and assess student progress to provide individualized support
