Suginoko School has been serving Seattle families since 1997 with a mission to provide excellence in early childhood education while celebrating Japanese culture. We believe in the power of play-based learning and whole-child development.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Are you a creative, energetic educator looking to make a meaningful impact? We're looking for Lead Teachers to join our preschool classrooms (serving ages 1-5). You'll design and lead engaging experiences that support learning across all developmental domains while nurturing children's curiosity and cultural awareness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement a play-based, culturally responsive curriculum Lead age-appropriate transitions, circle time, group activities, and outdoor exploration Observe children and document development using assessment portfolios Guide positive behavior and social-emotional learning Foster an inclusive community that values diversity and Japanese traditions Partner with families through regular communication and conferences Manage classroom supplies, materials, and learning spaces Collaborate with teaching team to ensure consistency and smooth operations Support children with diverse learning needs and abilities Participate in team planning and professional growth opportunities
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education Minimum 3+ years of documented experience teaching children in Japanese Fluency in Japanese language (both written and spoken) — ability to teach curriculum, communicate with families, and maintain classroom documentation in Japanese Current CPR/First Aid certification for children Strong verbal and written communication skills in Japanese Ability to create inclusive, welcoming learning environments Passion for supporting the whole child (cognitive, social, emotional, physical, creative) Background check clearance•Valid driver's license (for possible field trips)
