WHO WE ARE
The mission of Hamlin Robinson School (HRS) is to ignite the academic and creative potential of students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. Since its founding in 1983, HRS stands as the only school in the state of Washington exclusively serving the unique academic and social/emotional needs of students with dyslexia. It is our vision for students who struggle in traditional settings to experience the classroom as a welcoming and safe place for learning. At HRS, students experience school as a place where they are understood, supported, and empowered to thrive. Our classrooms foster confidence, curiosity, belonging, and joyful learning. In Fall 2026, HRS will launch its founding Early Childhood Education program, designed to provide young learners with a strong developmental and literacy-rich foundation within a nurturing, play-based environment.
OUR STORY
For more than 40 years, Hamlin Robinson School has been at the forefront of supporting students who learn differently. HRS uses evidence-based, multi-sensory instructional approaches and values the whole child experience — academic, social-emotional, and creative. Our new preschool program will extend this philosophy to our youngest learners by combining developmentally appropriate early childhood practices with intentional language and literacy support. The program will emphasize relationship-based teaching, social-emotional development, play, communication, and early learning foundations while creating a joyful and inclusive school experience for children and families. Hamlin Robinson School values diversity and welcomes the unique contributions of people from all backgrounds regardless of ethnicity/race, gender, socio-economic status, learning style, physical ability, religion, sexual orientation, and any other aspect of their identity.
