  • Full-time Position Overview The Early Learning Teacher at JO'S Early Learning Academy is responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children.
This position supports the overall mission of the Academy — to provide high-quality early education that fosters curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. The Early Learning Teacher will plan and implement lessons that promote children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, while maintaining open communication and partnership with families and colleagues. Responsibilities and Duties Curriculum & Instruction Plan, prepare, and implement weekly lesson plans aligned with the curriculum provided the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards Follow and apply all required aspects of the used Curriculum Create hands-on, play-based learning experiences that promote exploration and discovery. Adapt instruction to meet the individual developmental needs and learning styles of each child. Maintain an organized and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity and independence. Integrate social-emotional learning and positive guidance strategies into daily routines. Ability to plan and conduct regular home visits to provide family support, assess child development, and promote parent engagement. Child Development & Care Observe and assess children's growth and development, maintaining accurate documentation. Conduct regular developmental screenings and share results with families. Promote health, safety, and hygiene in all aspects of the classroom. Support smooth transitions between classroom activities and program levels (e.g., toddler to preschool, preschool to kindergarten). Family Engagement Build positive, trusting relationships with families through ongoing communication and collaboration. Conduct family conferences to discuss progress, goals, and ways to support learning at home. Encourage and support family involvement in classroom activities and events. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Collaboration & Professionalism Work collaboratively with co-teachers, assistants, and administrators to ensure a consistent, high-quality program. Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training opportunities. Maintain compliance with all licensing regulations, program policies, and safety procedures. Serve as a positive role model for children, families, and peers by demonstrating patience, empathy, and professionalism. Qualifications Minimum of an Infant/Toddler CDA or equivalent required Associates or bachelor's in early childhood education or related filed preferred Wisconsin teaching certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early education. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to establish warm, respectful, and supportive relationships with children and families. Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable, insured transportation for conducting home visits throughout the service area. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in an early learning or childcare setting. Familiarity with Wisconsin DCF licensing standards and YoungStar quality guidelines. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus. Physical & Environmental Requirements Ability to lift or carry up to 50 lbs occasionally. Active participation in classroom and outdoor activities (bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor, etc.). Must complete required health screenings (physical exam, TB test, background check, fingerprinting). Work primarily in a classroom environment with occasional outdoor play and field trips.
