Chatter & Chalk is a unique, private, pre-k in Morgantown, WV, with an emphasis on team collaboration, early language development, and school readiness. This school was created with intention to support each child and family during the most important years of child development. Speech and occupational therapy are offered during the school day for children who qualify, and teachers collaborate with therapists to help children in need of communication, language, fine motor, self-help, or social-emotional support. Speech and occupational therapists provide daily classroom enrichment every morning with whole group lessons. The teamwork never stops! Job Description Chatter & Chalk Academy is seeking a passionate, organized, and nurturing Lead Pre-K Teacher to guide our new classroom team and create a high-quality early learning experience for children and families. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, values teamwork, understands child development, and can create a structured yet engaging classroom environment that supports the whole child. Responsibilities Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based lessons and activities aligned with early childhood standards using a language-centered curriculum Create a safe, inclusive, engaging, and emotionally supportive classroom environment Lead classroom routines, behavior support, and daily classroom management with confidence and professionalism Supervise and collaborate with assistant teachers to support smooth classroom function and consistency Build positive relationships and maintain open communication with families regarding student growth and classroom updates Monitor student progress and support social, emotional, communication, and academic development Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, documentation, and licensing compliance requirements Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development opportunities Collaborate with administration and related service providers to support student success and individualized needs Model professionalism, flexibility, teamwork, and positive interactions with children, families, and staff Qualifications Early childhood education background, degree, or related certification preferred Experience working in a preschool or Pre-K classroom setting Strong classroom management and communication skills Passion for child-centered, relationship-based learning Ability to lead a classroom team while maintaining a positive and collaborative environment Must pass background checks and meet requirements of
